Does Good News Exist?

Psalms 4:6
Many are asking, "who can show us any good?"

Psalms 14:1
The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news.

Romans 12:9
Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Nehemiah 8:10
"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."

1 Thessalonians 2:20
Indeed, you are our glory and joy.

It seems, that in today's world, everyone is looking for bad news. How many headlines do we see in newspapers and on television about something great that has happened? Not very many. Everyone seems to be drawn to bad news. We can't wait to get the scoop on celebrities when we catch wind of their dirty deeds. We anticipate what type of fatalities and horror may show up on the six o'clock news. Just about everything we h…

Showered with Blessings

Ezekiel 34:26
I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.

Psalms 2:12
Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

Deuteronomy 28:1-8&10
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: you will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock- the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns a…

Chasing the Dollar

1Timothy 6:3:10
If anyone teaches false doctrine and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought noting into this world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich will fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root for all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

How many get rich quick schemes do we hear and see ad…

Patience

Romans 5:3&4
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.

Proverbs 19:11
A man's wisdom gives him patience, it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Psalms 40:1&2
I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

James 1:3&4
Knowing this, that the trying of our faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Jesus said that the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbor as our-self. He meant that we were to love anyone and everyone that we come in contact with as we love ourselves. Some of our neighbors can be hard to love. We sometimes find ourselves asking, "Why did Jesus have to make that a commandment?". We often forget that, we too, can also be hard to lov…

Righteousness

Romans 4:18-24
Please read this passage in your Bible.

Righteousness: 1. acting in accord with divine or moral law: free from guilt or sin
                        2. morally right or justifiable

What does it mean to be clothed with righteousness? This is God's plan for us after we receive salvation through Christ. He extends us His grace by offering us salvation through our confession, and His forgiveness of sin. Our next step is to throw off sin and walk upright, no longer practicing sin. That does not mean that we will never sin again, it means that we no longer intentionally do things that are of a sinful nature. Although we may try our best not to, we still stumble from time to time. We cannot walk through this sinful world on our own, we need help in order for us to be able to have purified hearts and minds. That is why God sends us His Holy Spirit; to help and guide us.
When God promised Abraham that his wife Sarah would bear him a son, Abraham was about one hundred years old a…

Worthy of Salvation

1John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.

Isaiah 51:6
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell there shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

Lamentations 3:26
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

How many times have you been saved? Silly question? Once we decide to give our lives to Jesus Christ, pray the sinners prayer, and ask for forgiveness; we are saved! Yes we fall short because as humans, we are Imperfect People. The moment you place your trust in Christ, he views you as righteous. From this point on, He accepts you, for who you are, as His child. Your sins are no longer counted against you because of God's fo…

Sometimes the Wrong Turn is the Right Way Home

Psalms 76:10
Surely your wrath against men brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Psalms 63:1
Oh God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsts for thee, my flesh longs for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.

Psalms 73:2
But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold.

Psalms 34:14
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Most of us think we have to walk through life alone, not realizing that God is with us every step of the way. Unfortunately, our stubbornness and hard-headedness gets in our way and prevents us from seeking Him. We have to do everything our way. Most of us have the "it's my way or the highway" attitude. We toss and turn, push and pull trying to navigate through the obstacles and challenges that we are faced with. Our arrogance leads us to believe…

Our Prayer

Father, we thank you for your mercy and grace. We thank you for the many blessings that you have put in our lives. Father, we praise you and magnify your name. You are Lord of all and are worthy of our praise. Father, we pray that you will anoint this website. Lord, let your spirit fill the people that read your messages. We pray that you will let your power and strength pour into the words that are on these pages. Father, we ask that you will bless each and every reader abundantly. Let your people find wisdom, encouragement, and joy here. Father we pray that you fill believers with the Holy Spirit. Lord, when the non-believers stop by, put a hook in their jaw and drag them to the bleeding side of Calvary. Open the minds and the hearts of everyone here so that they may receive the truth. Let it truly be a time of blessings and a time of the miraculous. Let it all be for your glory and not ours. I call liberty, peace, and joy into the lives of each and every reader. In Jesus name we p…

How to become closer to God

The best way to get closer to God is by praying. We have to pray in order to foster a relationship with God. Prayer isn't us doing all the talking. Most people think that prayer is just asking for something from the Lord. Prayer can also be talking to the Lord and thanking him for things He has done. We can also get closer to God by reading His word. God will talk to us through his word. Sometimes when I pray, I remind God of the promises He made to us in the Bible. When we are done praying, we should take a moment and pause, be still, quiet, and just listen. Sometimes you can hear a faint, whispering type voice speaking to you. Other times, you may hear a notable voice. If you have a relationship with God, you will know when He is talking to you whether it is through His word or any other way. Jesus said "my sheep know my voice and a stranger's voice they will not follow." We are God's sheep and He is the great Shepard. Start a talking relationship with Him and…

Suffering

Romans 8:17&18
Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

1Peter 2:21
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you shouldfollow in His steps.

Hebrews 11:25
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.

Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.

How do you define suffering? Is your suffering waiting in long, endless lines at the DMV? Is your suffering physical pain and anguish? Is your suffering from an illness? Is your suffering from a mental illness or state of mind? No matter what the situation, we all suffer in one way or another. Most of the time, our suffering is brought on by ourselves, consequence…

Salvation

I hope that you have decided to surrender all and come to Christ. Hopefully, you are tired of the pain and suffering that comes along with being in this world. Life is very tough. Proverbs 13:15 says, "the way of the transgressor is hard." In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

I don't care what you have done, Jesus can change your life. He is not a philosophy, He is a person and He will come into your life and transform you, recreate you by the power and mercy of His grace. It doesn't matter who you are. John 1:12 says, "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."

You are reading this now because He has drawn you to Him and has brought you to a …

Storms of Life

Jonah 1: 1-5:
The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me." But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed to Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying his fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord. Then the Lord sent a a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship.

Where do the storms of life come from? How do we end up in such chaotic situations when we take every precaution to make sure we are not heading into a trap? Our lives end up a mess because we are not obeying the calling of the Lord and we are doing things our own way and not His way. We all think we know so much and have it all figured out. We go down our own paths, it'…

The Unconditional Love

Hebrews 13:5
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Exodus 15:13
In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

How many people do you know that would give up one of their children for you? None, right? How many people do you know that would give up their own life for you? None, really? Then why is so hard to accept the one who did?

How many people are out there feeling like no one loves them? I bet there are more than we realize. This is a sad and lonely world. The world has so much false hope and so many empty promises. It's easy for us to get caught up in worldly standards and expectations. We get lost in the blindness that this world causes. We get let down…

How to invest in your relationship

First off, if you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then you will have a hard time having a relationship with anyone else. You have to have your relationship right with God before you can have a healthy and fruitful relationship with your partner. Once you have that figured out, you have to ask yourself if you and your partner share the same beliefs. The Bible says, how can two walk together if they don't agree? After you know that you have these two things settled in your heart, you should now seek some spiritually guided counseling that is based on the foundation from the teachings of the Bible.

A lot of people think that counseling is for struggling relationships, this isn't always the case. We invest money in the stock market hoping that we will get a return on our invest. Why shouldn't we take this same approach with our relationships with our partners. Counseling affords us the opportunity to invest time into our relationships and get tools …

Finding God's Wisdom in an UnGodly World

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all and without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Col 2: 2&3
My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Roman 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to Him be the glory forever!

Jeremiah 10:12
But God made the earth by His power, He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.

What is this wisdom that we all want to have? Wisdom is the judicious study and application of kn…

Power of Prayer

2Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Luke 18:1

Jesus taught his disciples that they should always pray and not give up.

Romans 8:26&27

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself  intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

I'm sure we can all agree that in today's world people are focused and determined on doing things their own way and for themselves. People seem to be more driven and self-reliant. We have to rem…

Faith

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Galatians 3:11
But that no man is justified by the law and the site of God, it is evident: for, the just shall live by faith.

James 2:17&18
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, it is dead. But someone will say, "you have faith; I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

What is faith and what do we do with it? Faith is the substance of things that are hoped for and the evidence of things that are not seen. Why is faith so important to us as Christians? God is not someone that we can physically see and touch. God is with us in spirit. As humans, we often get the attitude that we will believe it if we see it. Really, the order for us is to…

Grudges

Leviticus 19:18
Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself.

James 5:9
Grudge not one against another, brethren, least ye be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

How many times in life have we held a grudge against someone for something they have done to us? As humans, we have a hard time letting go of what people have done. We  really can't talk about grudges without talking about forgiveness. We have to learn to forgive others as Jesus has forgiven us for what we have done. The Bible tells us that we can not be forgiven until we have forgave those that have wronged us. In Matthew 5:23&24, Jesus says "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift." This is a form a Jesus instructing us not to hold grudges agai…

Encouragement for Single Parents

Matthew 19:26:
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
1Peter 4:8-10:
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

Three principles you should teach your children.
Teach them to love all people unconditionallyDon't base their future on the pastAdapt to change1.  Love people for who they are, the good and the bad. They must recognize the good things people do and accept that no one is perfect. The bad things we all do are works in progress and we must help one another overcome those challenging faults. Teach them that we are only flesh, we will, at some point, let each other down. God's teaches us that love covers over a multitude of sins.

2.  They need to know that there is no future in the past, bu…

The new birth

John 3:1-7:
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'

A lot of people have trouble comprehending this. First, let's remember that as humans, we can't comprehend everything that is of God. We can't comprehend how…

How to avoid life's confusion

Proverbs 2:1-6
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

The definition of confusion is a lack of understanding; uncertainty; a situation of panic; a breakdown of order.

How many times have we been caught up in life's confusion?  We flounder around, blowing in many directions like a feather in the wind.  We can't seem to find our place or get on the right track.  We put all of our time and effort into finding our way, yet, we still seem to be lost, dazed and confused.  We don't understand how we got where we are or how to get where we are going.  We feel uncertain about life in general a…
