Grace in time of need

Hebrews 4:14-16:
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are , yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We all go through trials in life. We have bad times that can bring us down. We struggle with a lot of worldly evils. There are temptations knocking on the door every way we turn. It can be hard to endure and especially to overcome. This is an even greater feeling during times when it seems that the whole world is against us and the problems just keep piling up. Actually, the world is against us. The ruler of this world, the devil, has his army set out to destroy the church and destroy God's people. We have to hold tightly to our faith and believe that God will see us through it all if we only obey His commands and listen to His words. In Genesis, God told Cain that sin is crouching at the door and we can either rule over sin, or it will rule over us. Although times get tough and life is hard, we have an advocate, a high priest at the right hand of God , the Father, that has been tempted in every way that we have been, yet He has not sinned. Jesus went through and has been touched with every trial and temptation that we will ever face in our lives. He did not give in to sin. He had dominion over sin. He did not allow sin to rule Him. Because of this, Jesus is able to sympathize with what we go through in life. When we fall short, all we have to do is ask God to forgive us in the name of Jesus and our sin is removed. Jesus has already paid the price for sin in His death and He conquered it in His resurrection. We are not the victims, but are the VICTORS!! I can imagine us asking God for help and forgiveness for our weaknesses and I can picture Jesus sitting there beside God reminding Him that He, Himself paid the price on Calvary and that we are forgiven. We may fall short of the mark, we will struggle in life with trial and temptation, the great news is that we can have confidence that we are not in this alone. By grace, Jesus is there to help us and pull us through the trying times. So do not be sad, or long in the face when you are going through a trial, instead rejoice in it because you know that God is going to bring you through and you will be victorious. His grace has been given to us in our time of need, by grace we were saved and by grace we survive.
