Power of Prayer

2Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Luke 18:1

Jesus taught his disciples that they should always pray and not give up.

Romans 8:26&27

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself  intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

I'm sure we can all agree that in today's world people are focused and determined on doing things their own way and for themselves. People seem to be more driven and self-reliant. We have to remember that we are not capable of fixing our lives ourselves. We must pray and God will answer us in His due time. When we talk about praying, we should know that it's not only for the big issues in life, it's for every issue. Ask God for His help and guidance for any and everything you do. Praying is not just something that's done before bed at night, but we should pray always to give God praise and thanks. Your prayers can and will be answered. Please know, though, that some of our dearest prayers may go without answer. This does not mean that God is not listening, it just means it may not be the time for that prayer to be realized. God knows what is best for us. The Bible tells us that we should also pray for others not just ourselves. Most of our prayers seem to go something like this, "Lord bless me, my wife, my son, my daughter, us four and no more, goodnight Lord."

Prayer is a very powerful connection between us and our Lord and Savior. One of the very first signs that the world knows you are a Christian is that you know how to pray.
