Lean On Me

John 16:30
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

In the midst of the hardship and suffering that was to come, Jesus' disciples, and all following Him, can have such peace in fellowship with Christ. This was Jesus' farewell to his disciples. It ended on a note of triumph.

Isaiah 41:13
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who says to you, "Fear not, I am the one who helps you."

The fearful people of God, victimized by the cruel whims of human power, will be vindicated, for no human hostility can defeat God.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The secret of living amid all life's difficulties is simple: trusting God in such a way that one can say, I can do all things through Him that strengthens me. This doesn't mean that God will bless whatever a person does; it must be read in the context of the letter, with its emphasis on obedience to God and service to God and others.

God wants us to take refuge in Him. He wants us to lean on Him. He wants us to trust Him. He wants us to rely on Him all of the time. God wants us to give our lives to Him, for His service and His purpose, in order to glorify Him.

We go through things in life and we wonder, why me? We question our trials and our hardships. If you think about it, these situations are instances that teach us how to trust and rely on God. Once you come to realize that God has everything under control, you tend to not question and you don't worry; you know that no matter what, God is going to be by your side. There are several examples throughout the Bible, Old and New Testaments, that teach God's people to trust Him. So many times people were delivered into the hands of mighty, powerful men, but always seemed to come out on top of the situation. Remember Joseph? He was left for dead by his brothers. Then he was carried off to a foreign land where he knew no one and was completely cut off from his family. He ended up being second in command in a foreign country. The King of that country relied on his wisdom, which God was giving him, for any and every thing. Joseph relied totally on God and because of it, God put him on top of the situation. If trusting God can make you a leader in a foreign land, imagine what it can do right there in your home!

Trusting God is extremely important in the Christian walk of faith. Remember when you were a little child? You trusted your mom or dad to fully and completely support and take care of you. You thought they were the most powerful people in the world. They could protect you and save you from anything. That's how we ought to trust God. He is there with us, He has gone before us. He has conquered the world. There is nothing too big or too small. He is all powerful and all knowing. He is the Lord of lords and the King of kings. Our God is an awesome God! He cannot lead you the wrong way. If God is for us, who can be against us. He said, "your troubles will come at you from six ways, but will flee from you in seven." There is no defeat for the child of God! Please trust Him. In your life, rely on Him 100%. Lean on Him and you will not fall!

Father, I pray that you will teach us to lean on you in all times, good times and bad. Lord give us the reassurance to know that you are there in all things and at all times. I praise you God that you are above all and before all. Lead us Father in our walk with you. Strengthen us and allow us to put all of our trust in you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
