It's Time for Faith

Matthew 13:57-58
But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor." And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith (NIV).

What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (KJV). Faith is believing something that has not yet come to fruition with purposed expectations. Faith enables us to expect what we have yet to see. If ever we needed to put our faith to work in America, it is now! America needs a revival of faith!

In Matthew 13:58, Scripture explains that Jesus did not do many miracles in his hometown because of the lack of faith. I believe that this is why we are not getting many results in the American church today, because of the lack of faith. We have forgotten, as a body of Christ, how to believe on Him. It is no wonder that the younger generation isn't getting saved in most of the U.S.; it is because they haven't seen the power of God at work in the lives of His people. We have lost the courage to believe that God still performs miracles.

How much faith do we need in order to start seeing changes and getting some results? Jesus said "if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move (Matthew 17:20, NIV). We live in a mountain-filled culture today. This culture is plagued and bogged down with so many mountain-sized issues that we can hardly move. The high unemployment rates, increase in homelessness, and overflowing hospitals is a testimony to this faithless culture we have created. We were not meant for the type of life that society has enslaved us with. Jesus said "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10, NIV). All throughout his ministry, we see Jesus exhorting and rebuking his disciples for their lack of faith (See: Mark 4:40; Luke 18:8; Matthew 6:30). We must have faith that God is going to do what He said He would do.

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6, NIV). We must have faith, we must walk by faith, and we must put our faith to work in order that we may please God. "Everything that does not come from faith is sin" (Romans 14:23, NIV). A lack of faith in our lives is a double-edged sword: We cannot move the mountains that stand in our way and we cause separation between ourselves and God. It's time for a revival of faith! God bless you!
