Where is the Blessing?

Psalm 1:1-2:

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night (NIV).

When Jesus rules our hearts, this Christian walk is not something we do a few times a day, here and there, as time permits. It is not something we do for a little while each day, take a break from, and then go back to "normal" life. Instead, Jesus is life! His Spirit flows from the inside of us and an outward flowing of Jesus and his Word is what consumes us. It is not a habit or a hobby, it is our being, our very existence. When Jesus rules the heart, you can't help but to praise him and lift up his name and keep his Words on your lips! It is truly a life of glory- Glory that is given to God with every breath and every thought. This is where the blessing is. The blessing doesn't come from playing church once a week then going abou…

Why Should I Complain in My Suffering?

1 Peter 3:18- For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit (NIV).

"Christ also suffered once for sins" (emphasis mine). Who am I to complain about my suffering? I suffer for sins I have committed. I have earned and deserve the suffering. Jesus suffered for sins and He was the only One without sin. He suffered for my sins. He never once complained about having to suffer for my sins. Instead, He suffered willingly and lovingly. He died in His body for me and then was made alive in the Spirit for me. He died so that by His Spirit I could live for Him. He lives so that by His Spirit I can die to self.
